Amazon.com is the definitive example of a business to consumer e-commerce site. Practically everybody who uses the Internet knows Amazon.com because it is probably the largest online store site and most people have already bought something from it.

Besides business to consumer e-commerce, Amazon.com is also known among its users as a place where you can make money by selling your own products or earning commissions by recommending products for sale.

"Amazon Hacks" is a book full of tips that interest either regular users who buy products from Amazon.com or users who want to make money partnering with the site.

The book is divided into 6 chapters. The first three focus on tips for consumers and the last three focus on tips for partners.

The first chapter provides information on browsing and searching in Amazon.com.

The second chapter presents personalization tips of interest for users who are already registered with Amazon.com, even if they are not yet customers, like getting interesting recommendations, building wish lists, receiving reminders on a given date, etc..

Chapter three gives tips on interacting with other Amazon.com customers, like sharing product reviews, building lists of products for people with similar interests, discussing products with other people, etc..

The fourth chapter is about putting products up for sale or auction in the Amazon.com marketplace. It also contains a couple of tips on collecting donations for a Web site using the Amazon.com Honor system.

The fifth chapter is about becoming an affiliate of Amazon.com and earning money recommending products for sale on the site and collecting commissions. It contains tips about sales statistics and the recommended best practices that can maximize your affiliate revenue.

The sixth and final chapter complements the previous chapter for power users who have some Web development knowledge. It contains many tips on how to query and interact with the site using programming scripts that access the Amazon Web services (AWS) API. The AWS API provides great power and potential for a myriad of new interesting applications and Web sites. This chapter contains examples of such applications in PHP, Perl and VB.NET.
